Making a Statement on Sustainability with Clear Channel
Year 12 Creative and Digital Media students are taking on a massive challenge: turning bus stops across Bristol into attention-grabbing statements about sustainable fashion. This collaboration with Clear Channel means their work will be showcased on 60 digital billboards scattered across the city.
The brief? Get people thinking about sustainable fashion. From photography to graphic design to fine art, students are set to create large posters in a medium and format of their choice. They could create an ad for an eco-friendly brand, highlight some hard-hitting facts, or offer practical tips on staying sustainable. The students need to craft messages that are inclusive, carefully considered and impactful to a diverse Bristol audience and they’ll learn skills in communicating effectively on such a large scale.
Talk about a big stage: these billboards rotate six posters every minute, giving each design a 10-second spotlight seen by hundreds of thousands of people a week. The commercial value of the advertising slots is £40,000!
From Ideas to the Big Pitch
Over six weeks, all students will develop their concepts, culminating in a pitch to a creative team from Clear Channel. Ten designs will make it to the bus stops for a two-week run, giving the selected students a real-world taste of what it’s like to compete for high-profile opportunities in the creative world.
Collaborations
Collaborations like these are key for giving students a feel for the creative industries. It’s a chance to work with real clients, solve real problems, and gain real-world experience that puts them ahead when they graduate.
We’re buzzing to see what the students come up with and can’t wait to see their designs brighten up Bristol’s streets. Huge thanks to Clear Channel for helping make it happen!
We’re always excited to explore collaborations! If you have a project that could benefit our students, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch.
