Bristol Film School Rolls Out The Red Carpet

Bristol Film School dazzles the city with an unforgettable cinematic celebration at the Watershed Cinema.

Our amazing students - the next generation of filmmakers - revealed their extraordinary talents at Bristol Film School's first graduate showcase this week. It was an afternoon filled with electrifying energy, creativity and a touch of Hollywood glamour.

In the cinema - and the bar - film students, industry professionals, parents, friends and staff celebrated the incredible achievements of this year’s graduating class. The screening featured 7 films from the BA (Hons) Filmmaking: Production and BA (Hons) Filmmaking: Post Production degrees, with awards presented for best drama, best production management and best editing, among others.

Freya Billington, Head of Bristol Film School, expressed her pride and excitement at this cinema premiere of her students’ work:

"This showcase is a testament to the students’ dedication, creativity and sheer hard work. A packed Cinema 1 at the wonderful Watershed was a fantastic way to end an extraordinary 3 years with a truly inspired group of students.

"Our industry partners and friends were there to present awards, including Frances Davies Talent Manager from BBC Studios and Arun Hall Head of Picture at Gorilla Post alongside Jess Wheeler, BFI Talent Executive SW. Seeing what our students hade achieved fills me with immense joy about their futures and what we are doing at Bristol Film School."

Award winner, Lucy Wallis, BA (Hons) Filmmaking: Production, had been at boomsatsuma college before starting at the Film School:

"Seeing our films on the big screen at the Watershed has been one of the best experiences of my life. I graduate in July and I’ve already got a job at VMI, one of the biggest film and TV equipment hire companies in the UK. Boomsatsuma and this degree course have changed my life."

Well done to all the student film crews for: Serendipity, It’s Quiet Here, The Mighty Pidgeon, Quarter Life Crisis, Julien Brown, After A Moment and The Bristol Crocodile.

Want to make award-winning films? Come and join our Filmmaking: Production or Filmmaking: Post Production degrees. Our next Open Day is on Saturday 15 June at the Tobacco Factory.
