Mark Curtis, boomsatsuma CEO announced:
"I’m delighted and proud to welcome Andrew Hollowood and Richard Blows as the first members of our board of governors. They bring an incredible range of senior leadership experience and knowledge of the region. We'll be expanding the board over the coming months to reflect the diversity of our organisation.
Since our beginnings, we've set out to challenge traditional models of education. Introducing this new board of governors gives us a solid foundation for undertaking future expansion. Governance and commercial intelligence will ensure that we continue to deliver on our vision and mission."
Richard Blows has been a supporter of boomsatsuma since its beginnings as a Community Interest Company. He has worked for North Somerset Council in a range of senior roles, including developing a local identity around Arts and Culture. In 2022, Richard worked with Unboxed and New Substance to bring 'See Monster' to Weston-super-Mare.
Richard says:
"I am looking forward to working with the dynamic team at boomsatsuma. I have always been an advocate of the South West Creative Industries and ensuring young people across the region have access to opportunities through accessible training and education."
Andrew Hollowood PhD FRCS is Chief Medical Officer for Royal United Hospitals Bath, NHS Foundation Trust. He has a keen interest how social inequality and lack of opportunity affect people’s health and lifespans.
Andy comments:
"I have a passion for resolving health inequalities which is based in education and opportunities for all. I see a lot of ideas and potential for boomsatsuma’s future advancement. I hope to help steer and support positive outcomes for the often-marginalised communities across our region."
