THe COURSE

Collide imagination and technology to make games that people will want to play.

Take a hands-on approach to games in Bristol. This course covers the art, design and technical knowhow behind well-crafted games. You'll learn to make games that entertain, tell amazing stories and even help people. Staying connected with the games industry across the course, we'll help you build the skills and creative mindset needed to land your first pro role.

You’ll dissect games, design games and develop games - moving through a range of styles from hypercasual mobile puzzlers to story-driven VR adventures. You'll explore why and how people play games, and crucially, what makes a game fun to play. This happens through challenges and projects, with each building your confidence and ability to take a game from an initial idea to a releasable product. All within a supportive, studio-style environment that values you and your ideas.

Ritual Scene

Harvey Mason

A interpretation of a Roman temple, developed as a demonstration of procedural techniques for game art. 'Procedural' means that algorithms are were to create objects, materials and textures rather than all elements being manually crafted.

Harvey utilised Houdini for cloth simulation, custom foliage and pillar creation, Substance Designer to make tiling materials, and ZBrush to sculpt a centrepiece bust. The scene was brought to life in Unreal Engine 5 through lighting, camera animation and fire effects via Niagara Particles.
